For those of you left scratching your heads after the news that Walt Disney Pictures was moving Marvel’s Ant-Man up from November 2015 to July 2015, well, this should clear the matter up nicely: apparently, the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, has been delayed from its original release date of July 10, 2015 to an unspecified release at some point most likely in 2016. So take a deep breath and relax, movie-going populace. You’ve got at least three more years before you’re assaulted with another unnecessary Pirates sequel.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales But They Sure Come Up With Godawful And Unnecessarily Long Titles For High-End Franchise Sequels is apparently still set for production to begin this fall, with no word as to why the release date has been shuffled back. That said, given the size and scope of the Pirates films, it does make some sense to give the film an extended production and post-production schedule.
Further, with titles like The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man in their pocket for summer 2015, it’s not as if Disney is hurting for marquee titles.
