In between telling the internet to cool down with its anti-Ben Affleck as Batman backlash and engaging in negotiations to star in a fifth Bourne film during his PR laps for Elysium, Matt Damon has found the time to select a directorial debut and take a role in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
While Interstellar has already begun production with Nolan at the helm and Matthew McConaughey starring, it appears that the film is still rounding up cast members, as Damon has reportedly taken a small role in the film, which will require only a few weeks of shooting for the actor.
Elsewhere, Damon has selected a film (reportedly titled A Murder Foretold and A Foreigner by variously outlets) to be his directorial debut. Based upon a 2008 article in The New Yorker (in which a Guatemalan man made a tape indicating he would be assassinated, and then he was indeed killed, with the tape implying the Guatemalan president was involved) the film will be penned by Argo screenwriter Chris Terrio. So go ahead and make a Damon and Affleck joke now, since they’re sharing screenwriters now instead of screentime.
