Despite the fact that it won’t see a release until March 21, 2014, the PR machine for Divergent is now beginning to rev into high gear.  So far, we’ve received a teaser for the trailer, then the official teaser trailer, and now we’ve got the first official behind the scenes featurette, which attempts to sell the adaptation of a Young Adult novel as the story of a girl who discovers that she is a totally unique snowflake capable of saving the world and is willing to show that to others—as long as the target audience of teenage girls are willing to pay $15 to see it.

Perhaps we’re being a tad unfair to the film, but frankly, the ads have looked uniformly bad, and the film seems like it’s aiming dead center for the “Hey gurls, you can totes change the world as long as you pick the right hot boyfriend, mmkk?” Young Adult genre that the Twilight Saga gave hellish birth to.

Anyway, check out the feature and learn how to save the world:

Divergent was directed by Neil Burger and stars Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Theo James, Jai Courtney, Ashley Judd, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, and Mekhi Phifer.

What did you think of the featurette?
