After the unimpressive presentation at this month’s D23 Expo over what could have been a cool little reveal on Tomorrowland, a lot of people were mildly interested but still a little confused as to what this movie is going to be all about. It’s a little difficult believing the director and writer of the movie when they pretty much tell you that what they’re showing off is fake and in some ways were wasting our time. But now that filming has officially begun for the mysterious new project, Disney decided to calm us down with a nice official plot synopsis.
There are some folks out there who aren’t the biggest fans of writer David Lindelof because they had some issues with his previous written work, like Lost, but since he’s combining creative forces with Brad Bird there may be able to make something really worthwhile with a title that’s based off a section of Disneyland park. Read the official plot synopsis below:
Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as “Tomorrowland.”
In some ways this sounds like it could be filmed as a live-action piece or animation, just from what we read up above. Then again, Brad Bird is best known for his animated pictures so maybe that’s just me echoing out my hopes of him doing another animated film one day when he’s done sinking his teeth into live-action.
Are you excited for Tomorrowland? Why or why not?
