News has been coming down hard and heavy from the pre-production world of The Expendables 3, the sequel to—you guessed it—The Expendables and The Expendables 2. First came the news that Bruce Willis was mysteriously bailing on the project, only to be somewhat shockingly replaced by Harrison Ford, of all people. That was followed by the far less shocking news that Willis bailed because he arrogantly demanded $4 million for what amounted to a cameo of four days work. Now comes the news that the film’s cast just got a bit larger.
Entertainment Weekly (via Coming Soon) leaked the news today that none other than Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas will be joining Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Stathem, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, and Victor Ortiz in The Expendables 3, and that—just like in Machete Kills (in which Banderas will also appear)—Gibson will play the bad guy.
Rumor has it that Stallone still has his sights set on adding Nicholas Cage, Wesley Snipes, Milla Jovovich and Jackie Chan to the cast—and seeing as how he was able to score Harrison Ford, as well as Gibson and Banderas, it’s not hard to believe that one or most of them could be added.
