If you’ve been checking out random movie news off the internet within the past 24 hours, you may have been hearing a few of your friends thanking China for all of their hard work. Do you know why? Because thanks to their absolute love of Guillermo del Toro‘s Pacific Rim, it looks like a sequel may be on the horizon. For all of us who have seen and love the movie we say one thing; thank goodness.

Before we all start jumping up and down out of our seats thinking about when we can see Jaeger robots attack more Kaiju, let’s look at the facts. At the moment China just pushed the total revenue gross for Pacific Rim into the $150 million dollar range, which means that the picture is starting to finally make some money, or at least enough to get people thinking about making a sequel. At the same time there is the fact that Pacific Rim just wasn’t that big of a hit out here in the States.

There are fans like myself out there who absolutely fell in love with the movie, but an original film of that crazy magnitude didn’t receive enough love from the masses like it should’ve. If the film ends up being green lit for a sequel, there’s going to have to be a long talk about how they’re going to market it to everyone, make it more appealing in some way. Then again how is robots versus crazy monsters not appealing? I don’t get how it isn’t to some.

Do you want to see a sequel to Pacific Rim?
