A few weeks ago, we reported that Paramount was set to release the fourth film in the Jackass cinematic franchise—Jackass: Bad Grandpa, a film in which Johnny Knoxville portrays his infamous “Irving Zisman” character while traveling across America. Well, we now have the trailer for this little gem.
The new trailer essentially paints the film as what we predicted it would be: “a Borat-type endeavor in which Knoxville’s character is dropped into to the real world to engender real reactions.” Essentially, there is a fictional and scripted overarching narrative (in which Zisman and his grandson Billy travel across America) while confronting real people in relatively unscripted situations, including a horrifying take on Little Miss Sunshine’s child beauty pageant. While there’s nothing in the clip that’s all that surprising—it’s the same kind of public stunts in front of real and shocked people that made the Jackass brand famous a decade ago—one has to admit that some of this is pretty funny stuff. Further, the original Irving Zisman sketch that the film is based on is one of the all-time funniest Jackass gags, in this writer’s opinion:
Jackass Presents Bad Grandpa is set for an October 25 release.
