Here’s an interesting tidbit from the world of DC Comics superheroes: while rumors continue to abound that the Flash will be getting his own film at some point (in order for DC and Warner Bros. to build to his eventual inclusion in a Justice League film), it appears that The CW is now mulling over their own Flash iteration: a new TV show featuring the scarlet speedster.
After having some success with Arrow (their small screen interpretation of the Green Arrow, another Justice League member), the CW is apparently in talks with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, as well as Arrow writers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, to write a pilot episode for a possible Flash television series.
Further, taking a page from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Flash is now rumored to appear on Arrow in order to establish his character, before allowing him to spin-off into his own series.
It’s an interesting development, as one would assume Warner Bros. would want the character left alone until he can be given his own film (unless they plan on having the possible TV series dovetail directly into the film franchise, a la Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).
The Flash previously had a live-action TV series that ran for one season in 1990.
