David Fincher has found a new leading lady in Rosamund Pike. She’ll star in Gone Girl, opposite Ben Affleck. More details on that below.   • Paul Greengrass To Direct The Trial Of The Chicago 7: Paul Greengrass is the latest director to take on The Trail Of The Chicago 7, which was once going to be helmed by Steven Spielberg, and later Ben Stiller. Deadline reports that Greengrass is in final talks, which means that this film might actually get made this time, plus Scott Rudin has signed on as a producer. The film is based on a script by Aaron Sorkin, and based on the infamous 1969 conspiracy riots that erupted during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. 
  • Rosamund Pike Is Gone Girl: Last week it was rumored that David Fincher wanted Rosamund Pike as the lead girl of his next feature, Gone Girl. ComingSoon confirms that the deal is done, and Pike has joined the cast of the film. She will play Amy Dunne, the wife of Ben Affleck’s character. The film tells of Dunne’s mysterious disappearance, and how her husband becomes the prime suspect in what some believe to be a murder.
  • Titus Welliver Joins Transformers 4: Ben Affleck favorite Titus Welliver is the latest to join Michael Bay‘s Transformers 4. The cast already includes Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller and Han Geng. Welliver has appeared in films such as Gone Baby Gone, The Town and Argo, and he’s also been in great deal of shows including LOST, Sons Of Anarchy and The Good Wife.   • Abigail Breslin To Play Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Daughter: Abigail Breslin will fight zombies again in the Maggie, except this time she’ll do it from within. ComingSoon reports that the young actress has landed the lead in the film and will play the daughter of a farmer (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger) who must come to terms with her walking-dead infection.


  • New Elysium Poster: Here’s the latest poster for Neill Blomkamp‘s Elysium, starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. The film opens in theaters August 9.



  • Cold Comes The Night Trailer: Bryan Cranston gives his best impersonation of a tough Russian gangster in Cold Comes The Night. The film, previously titled Eye of Winter, follows an unlucky single mother (played by Alice Eve) who finds herself working with Cranston’s nearly blind gangster. He wants money, she wants to protect her daughter. The film hits the UK September 20th. Here’s the trailer:

  • Daria: High School Reunion Trailer: CollegeHumor (via Slashfilm) released a parody video titled Daria: High School Reunion, which is exactly what it sounds like. It stars Aubrey Plaza, who, hey, has a movie that came out today (The To Do List). Here’s the clip

  • Paul Thomas Anderson Directs Fiona Apple Music Video: PTA and former girlfriend Fiona Apple reunited for the singer’s latest music video “Hot Knife.” Check it out:

  • Jennifer Lawrence Geeks Out: It’s a fact that Jennifer Lawrence is just about the coolest actress there is right now. She’s unapologetic, she’s good at what she does, and hey, she’s a geek just like us. During Comic-Con, the actress ran into Jeff Bridges and had a total fan girl moment. Check it out.
