veronica mars

Yesterday, at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, Veronica Mars fans were able to join together and not only see the cast and crew reunite live to discuss the beloved cult TV series as well as the surprise success of the Kickstarter project to fund the upcoming (and long anticipated) Veronica Mars movie, they were able to see a new trailer for the still-in-production film as well!

If you’ll recall the television series telling the story of Veronica Mars (a.k.a., the “post-modern Nancy Drew”), a teenager who solved mysteries, was cancelled five years ago.  Since then, fans have been clamoring for show creator Rob Thomas to bring the series to the big screen to offer both further adventures and the closure that the abruptly cancelled series could not.  And to everyone’s surprise, a small Kickstarter effort to crowdfund a portion of the film made 285% of its original goal, raking in over $5 million from hardcore fans.  And thus, we now have a Veronica Mars movie on the way.

The cast and crew brought with them a mini-trailer for the film to Comic-Con, one that features few scenes from the new film, as well as a bevy of behind-the-scenes looks at the film’s development and production.  For fans of the series, it’s not to be missed:

The Veronica Mars film is set for a February 2014 release.

What do you think of the new footage?
