While the ads and clips for The Canyons have yet to show a single frame of actually interesting footage, the film does have something of an interesting pedigree: directed by the man who penned Taxi Driver and Raging Bull (Paul Schrader), written by Bret Easton Ellis, and starring Lindsay Lohan at the nadir (so far) of her fame, along with porn star James Deen.  The hyper-low budget film had a notorious production thanks to Lohan’s extreme unprofessionalism, so much so that a film about the making of The Canyons would likely be more interesting than The Canyons itself.  But hey, we’re stuck with the thing now, so we might as well watch the trailer.

IFC Films has picked up the film, and will help mid-wife the film into the world on August 2, where it will then likely die a quick death, only to be reborn at ironic so-bad-it’s-good midnight viewing parties or as the back end of a double feature with Showgirls.  Either way, it looks terrible, the acting is flat and bored, the cinematography looks hasty and cheap, and the ‘insights’ come off as superficial high school journal entries.  Check it out:
