Nearly one year ago, in August of 2012, we reported to you that Vin Diesel was rumored to join The Avengers 2 cast as a character named Vision, who, in the comics, is a “‘solar powered android’ known as a synthezoid. Said synthezoid Vision was created by the robot baddie Ultron to kill Henry Pym (otherwise known as Ant-Man, who is getting his own Marvel film adaptation courtesy of Edgar Wright), but eventually changes sides and joins the Avengers.” But since then, we haven’t heard much. Until today.
The hulking actor just posted an image to his Facebook page, with a caption stating that he took a meeting with Marvel. So, what to take away from this? The image features Diesel standing in front of the cover of a classic issue of The Avengers comic, and Diesel was careful to insert the word “Vision” in the caption. Check it out:
“Marvel meeting today…Only the people in the room can tell you what was discussed…P.s. Thanks to Our page, for pushing to make it happen… you know I get tunnel vision with my work… and after that meeting today… wow!”
So, seeing as how this is the internet, and it’s our job to desperately try to glean every possible spoiler we can about in-development or in-production would-be blockbusters, we’re guessing that Diesel will indeed show up as Vision—though many are wondering if, since the character is featured in the image, Diesel will actually show up as Giant-Man (please, Marvel, don’t do that to us).
What do you think of the Vin Diesel news?
