We’ve seen a lot of spy photographs (and twitter updated from the director Marc Webb) about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but nothing from the film has been all that official. Until now. In preparation for Comic-Con, the film has released it’s first official publicity photo of Spider-Man’s Andrew Garfield sizing up Jamie Foxx‘s Electro.

This comes from Entertainment Weekly, along with three other covers. Check them all out:

Though the first ASM had its bosters, this Comic-Con is going to be a new trial for the sequel. Not only was The Amazing Spider-Man the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie, it wasn’t very good, and now the new movie just cut out Mary Jane Watson. that said, Marc Webb has been talking up a good game about the larger goals of the franchise, but also that changed when it went from a trilogy into a four film series (there are sequels already dated for 2016 and 2018, and if they do close out with a trilogy in ’16, expect the reboot two years later).

It’s also worth noting that now Entertainment Weekly is all about Comic-Con, which may have gotten an article about the event in years previous, but now gets four covers to celebrate the event. But this is part and parcel with the changing media landscape where print is no longer cock of the walk.
