There aren’t too many fans out there of the cartoon or live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films that are thrilled about the Michael Bay interpretation that’s in the middle of shooting as we speak. Despite our internet cries for this production to come to a halt, it continues on. At the very least we can be thankful that they have some cool actors onboard, like William Fichtner who’s playing out version of Shredder.
Since William Fichtner is currently promoting his work on the lackluster western The Lone Ranger, somebody eventually cornered him and asked a bunch of questions about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Naturally Fichtner had only good things to say about the project:
“Turtles is coming together very, very cool. There is a whole interesting dynamic that happens in the world of the Turtles and all I can really say about it at this point is that it’s not like anything that I remember about the Turtles before.”
So long as they’re not aliens then it’s fine with me. Now we want to know a bit more about his character Shredder and the way that they’re approaching it for the latest live-action reboot.
“I actually play a guy named Eric Sachs in the movie. And then he goes through a few stages in his existence…”
Well that doesn’t reveal much of anything, that is unless you’re familiar with the character Shredder in the first place. Shredder was once Oroku Saki whose path ultimately took charge of the Foot Clan, a group of ninja assassins that resided in New York. How this version of Shredder may differ from the one in the comics and animated TV show, we’re not sure. We’ll just have to wait and see what those behind Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spring on us.
