Earlier this year Dominic Cooper was cast as the lead character in Sky Atlantic and BBC America’s Fleming, a four-part TV miniseries that focuses on Ian Fleming, the man who created the character of James Bond. Below we have some quick footage of the drama, which debuts sometime next year.
Fleming is set against a broken London where a young Fleming is working as a failed stockbroker, with a failed army career behind him and living off his wealthy family while indulging in sex, liquor and women. Finally during WWII, Fleming found his career in naval intelligence, staging counter intelligence missions against the Nazis, thus garnering the experience he needed to later write his 007 novels.
The trailer is brief, but we suspect we’ll be getting more footage as we get near the release date. In the mean time, this clip does build up some mystery and tension, and Cooper looks like he’s enjoying being a badass. It suits him very well. Here’s the teaser:
Cooper is joined by Lara Pulver, Annabelle Wallis, Lesley Manville, Anna Chancellor, Samuel West and Rupert Evans. The series is directed by Mat Whitecross (Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, The Road to Guantanamo) and written by with John Brownlow and Don MacPherson.
Will you be tuning in to watch Fleming?
