The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, the sequel to the incredibly successful The Hunger Games, has a rather impressive roster of cast members in addition to star Jennifer Lawrence—Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland, Jeffrey Wright, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Liam Hemsworth, Amanda Plummer, and Josh Hutcherson are all co-starring in the film. And director Francis Lawrence is already looking to add an impressive name for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in 2014: Julianne Moore.
The actress is reportedly being eyed for the role of Alma Coin (see, in the future, everyone will have names, because that’s how they role in the future), who will appear in both parts of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Coin is a manipulative politician who teams with Katniss Everdeen to spur the rebellion against the dystopic Capitol.
It would be something of a casting coup to score an actress of Moore’s caliber for the sequels, on par with nabbing Philip Seymour Hoffman for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. More on this as it develops.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is set for a November 22, 2013 release date; The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is set for a November 21, 2014 release, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is set for November 20, 2015.
