Originally called The Tomb, the film now known as Escape Plan has a new trailer for us, featuring the long-awaited, full-length team-up between Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, it’s not 1985and both men are so far past their respective primes as to look positively bored throughout most of the trailer; also, the two and a half minute clip essentially spoils the entire plot for you, saving you the two hours you’d have otherwise spent watching the film.
Directed by Mikael Håfström, the film tells the story of Stallone’s Ray Breslin, a structural engineer who gets paid to find ways to break out of prisons, in order to expose their weaknesses to designers and make them more escape-proof. However (and geez, who would have guessed such an irony?!), Breslin is wrongly accused of a crime and gets locked up in the world’s most maximum security and inescapable prison.
While there, Breslin teams up with a grizzled old prisoner (Schwarzenneger) and, of course, begins plotting the impossible escape that could never ever work, unless it’s Stallone and Schwarzenneger who try it.
Escape Plan is set for an October 18th release.
