Wait, how exactly is this going to work out? In what may be one of the stranger pieces of news to crop up today, it’s been announced that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be reprising his role as the deadly Skynet cyborg in Terminator 5. No we are not kidding and aren’t entirely sure how they’ll be able to pull this off either.
First, let’s get into how this was all brought up. During an interview Arnold Schwarzenegger was more than happy to spill the news of his return to the long lasting science fiction franchise. Here’s what he said:
“I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star AS the Terminator, which we start shooting in January.”
Now we wonder how exactly that is going to work. As we all know, Schwarzenegger looks and is a lot older than how he appears in the first Terminator movie. Now in Terminator Salvation they managed to solve the problem of having young Arnold back in the picture again when they used the power of CG to superimpose his face onto a muscular body similar to what Schwarzenegger’s used to be back in the day. It will be a lot more difficult to convince us this is the same cyborg that was trying to kill Sarah Connor all those years ago. Schwarzenegger is 65 years old, and to see him reprise his roles in movies like Conan makes sense, because we would see an aged version of the beloved character. But Schwarzenegger back as a ageless cyborg just does not work.
