Edgar Wright’s upcoming The World’s End, his third and final film in the loose Cornetto trilogy that also includes Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, is, without doubt, one of our most anticipated films of 2013. Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the film turns an epic pub crawl into a sci-fi laced fight for survival.
Like the previous two entries in the Cornetto trilogy, The World’s End takes a story about growing up and weds it to genre film style—Shaun of the Dead got the zombie holocaust genre, Hot Fuzz mixed buddy cop films with creepy British horror, and The World’s End seems to have a John Carpenter apocalypse film vibe.
In the movie, a group of childhood friends (led by Pegg) reunite in their old hometown to complete the legendary pub crawl they never managed to finish when they were younger. The crawl ends at a pub called The World’s End; however, before they can get there, they notice everyone in town is just a little off—and then the madness begins.
And, just in case the August 23rd release date seems a little too far away, the film just received six—count ‘em, six—new character posters. We’re assuming the poster taglines (“The Famous Cock,” etc.) are names of bars along the crawl.
What do you think of the new posters?
