We’re about a week away from Man of Steel’s likely dominion over June’s box office, and while hopes are high that Christopher Nolan’s involvement will keep the film’s quality high, the fact that it’s being directed by Zack Snyder (300, Sucker-Punch) is enough to make some more than a little nervous. But the trailers have been solid to great, and this final ad—released by Nokia—is pretty perfect (despite laying out the entirety of the film’s plot).
While mostly dialogue free save for the beginning and ending, the newest trailer lays out a majority of the film’s plot—on the planet Krypton (where the Kryptonians all looks exactly like human beings), children are not born naturally, they are engineered to become various professions, like warriors or scientists. One man (Russell Crowe), insists on a natural birth for his son, Kal-El (Henry Cavill), and suffers some vicious consequences before sending Kal-El to Earth. There, Kal-El bums around for 25 years or so before becoming the Superman we all know and love, and faces down General Zod (Michael Shannon) with some heat vision and super-strength. Nothing entirely surprising, but it looks like a lot of fun.
Man of Steel is set for a June 14th release.
