“All BAD things must come to an end.”
That’s the new tagline for the second half of Breaking Bad’s final stretch of fifth season episodes (the first eight episodes of the fifth and final season aired last summer; the remaining eight will begin running this August), bringing to an end the story of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), chemistry teacher turned cancer victim turned meth kingpin. It’s been a dark and winding road as Walt has gone from a brilliant high school professor who took to cooking meth to generate money that would protect his family after his death, to a ruthless and bloodthirsty drug kingpin who pursues power for power’s sake. And now, it’s time for that to come to an end.
The first teaser and poster for the final episodes don’t reveal much—both more or less simply feature a variation on the title card from the series’ quick and dirty opening credits, and both promising that all bad things must end eventually.
It’s going to be hard to let the series go, as it has evolved into one of the most compulsively watchable, best-directed, and stunningly-performed television programs since The Wire and The Sopranos, so much so that even stopgap promos and posters such as these have our attention.
The final episodes of Breaking Bad begin airing on August 11 on AMC.
