Pixar’s big summer movie this year is Monsters University, a prequel to the beloved Monsters, Inc., which puts Mike Wazowski (Billy Crystal) and James P. “Sully” Sullivan (John Goodman) in college as roommates who don’t get along (at least at first) amongst an assortment of other scare students and would-be scarers.  The film opens in less than a month, so now there’s a final trailer which lays out the film.

This shows some of the big plot points of the film. Mike Wazowski has always wanted to be a great scarer — but his look isn’t all that terrifying to anyone –  which leads to drama, and that he and Sulley join Oozma Kappa, which turns out to be the least scary fraternity on campus. Though it doesn’t play up the ensemble, there are voices by people like Dave Foley, Charlie Day and Sean Hayes in the mix. Here’s that trailer:

With the film set during college, this reminds of the classic comedies about higher learning. The “classics” are mostly National Lampoon’s Animal House and Revenge of the Nerds (and maybe Old School could be thrown in there), and the trailer seems to acknowledge them by having a guitar destroyed. But with the prominent G rating, it’s unlikely their hijinks will get as filthy. Monsters University hits theaters June 21.

Where do you think Monsters, Inc. ranks in the Pixar canon?
