We’re the Millers features a unique twist on the family road trip genre. First off, it doesn’t feature Chevy Chase or “Holiday Road.” Also, most family road trip movies don’t feature close-ups of swollen testicles, Jennifer Aniston stripping, or the family preparing to be executed for stealing a massive amount of pot from a South American drug cartel.
Oh, also, another twist: they’re not really a family at all.
In director Rawson Thurber’s We’re the Millers, Jason Sudeikis stars as a man who has been offered a gargantuan amount of money to smuggle a little bit of pot out of Mexico and into the states. Looking to avoid suspicious border law enforcement, he recruits a stripper neighbor (Jennifer Aniston) to pretend to be his wife, and two young people (Emma Roberts and Will Poulter) to be his children, with the idea that border patrol would not suspect an affluent-looking family in an RV of smuggling drugs.
Of course, things eventually go awry, with tarantula bites leading to the aforementioned swollen testicles, Jennifer Aniston being forced to strip in order to avoid execution, and the amount of pot turns out to be way more than Sudeikis imagined. In case it isn’t clear already, the trailer is NSFW:
Fairly funny, no? We’re the Millers is set for an August 9 release date.
