The rumor mill has been going crazy as of late. We’re not entirely sure what is going on with the cast of characters for The Avengers 2 other than knowing that most of the regulars will be returning for the sequel. Now Joss Whedon has spoken up, saying that we may see a couple of new X-Men centric faces including another familiar one which many fans at this point believe wouldn’t return at all. That will also shake up some of the Avengers rotation which makes us understand a couple of more rumors even more.

Thankfully Joss Whedon emerged recently to straighten out some of the rumors that have been floating around about his precious sequel. He’s confirmed that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be making their way into the monstrous Marvel cinematic universe, but their first appearance won’t be a delightful one. Whedon gives a little snippet of what to expect in his quote below:

“I’m not putting any characters in the movie that will make things easier.”

That could mean a great number of things. We all know that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are part of the X-Men, first originating in the comics as the son and daughter of Magneto. He has a rather complicated relationship with his offspring and they’ve bobbed in and out of the side of good and evil, eventually making their way onto The Avengers a couple of times. So to see the sibling duo make their way into The Avengers 2 isn’t too far-fetched. We’re just curious as to whether or not they’ll be helping them or causing them all sorts of hell.

Then there’s the topic of Iron Man, a character that a lot of people aren’t sure will appear in any future Marvel films. Robert Downey Jr. has stated for the record that he won’t be playing Tony Stark/Iron Man in anymore movies. All because there’s a high chance that he won’t be coming back to reprise his role doesn’t mean that Marvel won’t hire somebody else to take on the role. It sounds like Marvel is doing a little bit of cleanup with their Avengers cast anyways, especially given the latest rumor that Hawkeye is done for and Black Panther could be taking over the vacant spot. Since we’re still a ways away from filming, anything could happen at this point.

Do you want to see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in The Avengers 2? Why or why not?
