Paul Thomas Anderson has made a great number of movies that in short are magnificent. He’s one of the best modern day filmmakers we have out there and the casting for his latest picture Inherent Vice should get many fans of his work excited.

Those who just recently joined the cast of Inherent Vice includes Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone and Martin Short. Now we’re already got the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro and Owen Wilson in the cast, so to add these three actors in there sounds great. Malone will be taking on the role of a former drug addict who is enlisting in the aide of Phoenix’s character. They haven’t announced who Witherspoon and Short will play at the moment but surely that’ll be revealed soon enough.

The Thomas Pynchon novel turned movie is set in the 70s where a drugged out detective (Phoenix) who runs into his ex-girlfriend that’s put together a plot to kidnap a billionaire. The plan goes wrong and our detective finds himself in an even stranger predicament than he ever could have imagined. Principal photography for Inherent Vice is scheduled to begin at some point later this year with the movie’s release set for some point in 2014. Since they’re rounding up the rest of the main cast, it wouldn’t be surprising if they began shooting the picture by the end of the summer. Hopefully that’s correct because I want to see this movie sooner rather than later.

What do you think of the casting selections so far for Inherent Vice?
