There’s been a number of video games that have eventually been turned into some kind of movie, and that’s exactly what’s going on with Angry BirdsSony Pictures decided that they want to take part in the Angry Birds craze by helping distribute the upcoming animated feature. Yes, you read that correct, there’s going to be an Angry Birds movie. If they can make a whole show and movie franchise out of merchandise (Transformers) then they can easily do this with Angry Birds.

Now Sony Pictures is cuddling up to Rovio as they agreed on a deal to distribute the upcoming Angry Birds movie on July 1, 2016. We’re still a ways off from the release so that explains why there’s been no reveal of the animated film’s general plot. It will probably look absolutely adorable either way because it’s Angry Birds.

For those of you who may or may not know, there’s already an Angry Birds cartoon that you’re able to watch online. So if you were thinking why the video game company Rovio would randomly dive straight into a movie without gradually building up the fan base even more with a cartoon, well, here’s your answer. Now they’ve decided to make a leap forward with their company by creating a movie on their own. People may believe that the popularity of Angry Birds has fluctuated over a certain amount of time, but the company still continues to make alternate versions of the game, so that’s saying something.
