Ever since Iron Man 3 came out in theaters, there’s been a number of rumors floating around saying that we may not have the same actors playing a couple of our favorite Marvel characters in their upcoming films. Fans have been panicking over the possibility that Tony Stark and company could be played by different people, but maybe that won’t be in our immediate future like some have lead us to believe.

Recently The Avengers actor Mark Ruffalo was addressed the question on the possible recasting for phase 2 of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Ruffalo’s words on the possible recasting were the text equivalent of him stroking fanboys/fangirls’ heads, assuring us that everything was going to be all right after all.

“I haven’t caught wind of any of that. I was surprised to hear it, because I don’t even think anyone’s really started negotiating yet…

“I’d be really sad if they did. I can’t imagine that. That would be bad. ‘That would not be good,’ as Joss Whedon would say… I’d love to come back as The Hulk. I don’t foresee not coming back as The Hulk.”

There’s a light at the end of the tunnel after all! Mark Ruffalo’s interpretation of Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Avengers was one of the many highlights of the film. If they were to suddenly chuck him out for some other random actor it would make a lot of us sad. Then again there is a very strong chance that Marvel’s monstrous movie universe could continue on for decades to come, which means we would have to be faced with the inevitable conclusion of recasting some of the more popular characters. It may not be happening anytime soon, but don’t be surprised when it does finally happen.

Would you like to see any of the Marvel superheroes be recast?
