Ender’s Game—the long-awaited film adaptation to the acclaimed Orson Scot Card science fiction novel of the same name—is nearly upon us.  With a November 1, 2013 release date, we’ll all be seeing the film soon enough.  But first, a fairly predictable and perfunctory teaser trailer.

Well, it isn’t the best trailer in the world—Harrison Ford’s grumpy, growly, and near-monotone delivery seem almost like a Harrison Ford parody, and some of the necessary young actor casting feels a little Young Adult novel—but hey, at least it isn’t one of those ‘teaser for the trailer’ teasers.  A lot of plot and character introductions are packed into this two-minute clip.  Then again, it’s produced by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (sigh and sigh).  Check it out for yourself.

As you can see, the film tells the story of a battle between humanity and a hostile alien force (the Formics).  Harrison Ford plays Colonel Hyrum Graff, who is charged with training the next wave of future warriors in the ongoing war.  And Ben Kingsley shows up with some wacky face tattoos.  It’s fun.

Ender’s Game co-stars Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Abigail Breslin, and was directed by Gavin Hood.

What do you think of the teaser?
