Interesting news coming from the Fantastic Four reboot today—casting news broke earlier this week that Girls star Allison Williams may be in talks to portray Sue Storm (a.k.a., the lady who is invisible); now, word is that Chronicle star Michael B. Jordan is in talks and contention to play Johnny Storm (a.k.a., the one who is always on fire).
It’d be a bold and fun move on Fox’s part, as the character has always been portrayed as a white guy (or, as /Film correctly notes, most superhero movies are “lily-white affairs”), though it may force Williams out of the role in order to cast an African American actress as Johnny Storm’s sister, Sue.
It’s no surprise that Jordan would be in the running for Johnny Storm—the Fantastic Four reboot is being helmed by Josh Trank, who previously directed Jordan in Chronicle.
If Jordan looks familiar, you may also remember him as the ill-fated projects kid Wallace from the first season of The Wire.
The Fantastic Four reboot was written by Jeremy Slater (with Seth Grahame-Smith rewrites), and is set for March 6, 2015 release date.
