In what has become de rigueur in modern action movie trailers, you’ve got to have really loud horns bleating the entire time, just to remind people how cool it was when that happened in Inception, so please come see our movie too, ok? The CinemaCon trailer for The Wolverine is the latest to clip to bludgeon viewer’s ears with said audio stylings. Oh, and it has some swords and ninjas and other stuff, too.
There’s not much here that we haven’t already seen before, but we do get a few glimpses at the “Silver Samurai,” and get more of Hugh Jackman’s trademark scowl and wacky Wolverine coif. It all seems pretty boilerplate Wolverine movie kind of stuff, but hey, as we’ve noted before, at least it can’t be as horrid as X-Men Origins: Wolverine, right? It can’t… can it?
The Wolverine finds our burly hero living in present-day Japan, where he “will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed,” and will also find him vulnerable and without his near-immortal healing factor for the first time. And again, hey, ninjas and loud music! So that’s something.
The Wolverine is set for a July 26 release date.
