Now that we’re officially in Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, plenty of fans have been chattering away over how Marvel and company could possibly top what they did in The Avengers. Then again, fans like myself won’t really question how Joss Whedon will be able to outdo himself since he delivered so well the last time. We know who The Avengers will face next. Actually, will they really face Thanos in the sequel? Whedon has the answer.

In a way Joss Whedon and company will be using Thanos to a degree in The Avengers 2, as hinted during the final scene during the first movie. Now Thanos isn’t your typical puny bad guy. Thanos is one of the meanest alien villains to ever grace the pages of a Marvel comic. It sounds like Thanos will be in the picture as a villain, but won’t be taking center stage as many thought.

“Well, Thanos is more powerful. He is so powerful; he is not someone you can just trot out and punch him. Like he did in the comics, you want him threading through the universe and to save the big finale for the big finale. He is definitely a part of what I have got going on. The thing about The Avengers is that they are very powerful but not very stable. So, there will definitely be some people that will shake them up in the next installment.”

If that’s the case then that means we’ll be seeing Thanos as the main villain in The Avengers 3. The mere thought of the third installment in this monstrous trilogy sounds like it’s eons away. Maybe they are gradually building up to him putting together the Infinity Gauntlet, which means we would see Thanos ripping away at anyone who stands in his path within the third movie. If we have to wait a little bit longer to see a battle of such epic proportions then that’s fine by us.

Do you think putting Thanos in as the main villain in The Avengers 3 is a good idea?
