Big news for fans of the X-Men graphic novels and film franchise—director Bryan Singer, who is currently at work on X-Men: Days of Future Past (the film that will bridge the original film series to the new X-Men: First Class continuity via time travel and alternate timelines), has announced the addition of a few classic X-Men characters who have yet to appear on the big screen.
According to /Film, Singer poster a Vine video featuring a series of cast chairs displaying the names of their respective characters—Logan (that’s Wolverine), Professor Xavier, Magneto, Storm, Kitty Pryde, Iceman, Colossus, and, Blink, as well as Warpath and Bishop. The addition of Warpath and Bishop’s names more or less seals and confirms the rumors that Omar Sy will be playing Bishop in the new film. Further, as Booboo Stewart has signed onto the cast, all signs point to him portraying the Native American mutant named Warpath.
Bishop and Warpath are relatively newer characters in the X-Men comics franchise—Warpath first appeared in the 1980s, and is capable of super speed, strength and flight. Bishop debuted in the 1990s as a mutant law enforcement officer from the future, and is able to absorb and project energy.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for a July 18, 2014 release date.
