Since The Amazing Spider-Man’s release, we’ve been more than a little skeptical of The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s choice in villains—after all, if the first film could turn classic villain the Lizard into a goofy CGI monster stomping around New York with a comically erudite British accent, how poorly translated would Electro, a man whose body can conduct thousands of volts of electricity, be? Well, today we have our answer, as images of Jaime Foxx playing the villain have now leaked.
And he’s… blue. He’s really, really blue.
This is in keeping with previous comments that Foxx has made about the character, stating that he wouldn’t appear in the more familiar green and yellow suit that Electro wears in the comics. Rather, the character design is based off of the Electro featured in the Ultimate Spider-Man continuity, meaning his bald and blue. Which, hey, when you’re body has mutated into a giant conductor of electricity, maybe you do turn blue. It still looks more than a little goofy.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for a May 2, 2014 release date.
What do you think of the Electro look–just right, or really, really silly?
