Since the universe seems bound and determined to shove the Michael Bay-produced, Jonathan Liebesman-directed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot down the collective throat of humanity, we’ve got even more casting new for the film: Splinter, the mutated rat who is a Zen-like ninja master who calmly and coolly guides and mentors the ninja turtles, has been cast.

And Splinter will be played by actor and stand-up comedian Danny Woodburn, who is best known as Kramer’s friend with Dwarfism on Seinfeld, Mickey Abbott.

/Film notes that Woodburn will likely portray the mutated rodent via a full motion-capture performance, as that is how the turtles will be brought to life on screen.  That said, they also note that Splinter is a ninja master with a heady amount of martial arts skills beneath his belt, and it isn’t clear as to whether or not Woodburn would be able to convey that level of physicality, or if he’d simply be providing Splinter’s voice.

This comes on the heels of the news that Megan Fox would be portraying April O’Neil, as well as the fact that a host of relative unknowns were cast as Michelangelo, Donatello, and Leonardo, and the hot-tempered Raphael.

The film is set for a June 6, 2014 release date.
