The final trailer for the highly anticipated Star Trek Into Darkness shows us a defeated Captain Kirk and very angry John Harrison. There’s only one month left before the J.J. Abrams epic hits theaters, and if you weren’t all that excited for the film, this lengthy, action-packed trailer will definitely get you on board.
The difference between this final trailer and other media that has been released by Paramount is that here the focus is primarily on our protagonist Kirk, played by Chris Pine. There’s still some strong footage of Benedict Cumberbatch’s villainous John Harrison; Kirk’s crew is engaged in a losing battle against him. They’re outnumbered and outgunned.
The trailer show us Kirk as a strong, but struggling leader, and that’s probably what we’ll see in the movie. He’ll have to overcome all of these dangers to save his crew, and we’ll find out soon enough just how he’ll end up protecting them from such a villainous man.
Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D theaters on May 15 before hitting 3D and 2D theaters on May 17; the film also stars Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
