A lot of people may know the name Michael Rooker from his appearances in the hit AMC show The Walking Dead, but even more will know his face after signing up for James Gunn‘s latest picture Guardians of the Galaxy. The actor will be one of the film’s main characters, which makes our rag tag group of space heroes almost complete.

Rooker will be taking on the role of Yondu, a blue-skinned alien who functions as a hunter on his home planet. Once he comes in contact with Vance Astro, he gets caught up in the madness outside of his home planet and turns into one of the founding members of the Guardians. Now we already know that Rooker has a lot of experience battling the undead, but can he fight extraterrestrials? We think so, especially if he’s playing such a tough character like Yondu. We can’t wait to see Rooker in full costume. And yes, we’re not-so-secretly hoping that he’ll be sporting that magnificent red mohawk throughout the movie.

James Gunn has a cool little past with actor Michael Rooker. The actor’s appeared in SlitherSuper and even provided a voice for Gunn’s horror game Lollipop Chainsaw. So really it was just a matter of time before we found out that Rooker was a part of the cast in some way or another. Now let us know who else is on the cast!
