As if Michael Shannon wasn’t terrifying enough already, he’s now making threats to humans in static-y videos. His demands? He wants the earth to give him Superman within 24 hours or he’ll destroy it. Last night, during the MTV Movie Awards, Warner Bros. kicked off a new viral campaign for Zack Snyder‘s Man Of Steel, which showed us Shannon as General Zod.
In a static-filled video, General Zod tells all normal human beings that they “are not alone.” He introduces himself and lets them know that “for some time [their] world has sheltered one of [his] citizens,” (a.k.a. Superman). “I request that you return this individual to my custody,” he continues, “To Kal-El, I say this, surrender within 24 hours, or watch this world suffer the consequences.”
Here’s the video:
Following the release of the viral video, a new site created as part of the movie promo starts the countdown. We’re expecting to see a new trailer at the end of that countdown.
Man of Steel opens June 14th. The film also stars Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Ayelet Zurer as Lara Lor-Van, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Antje Traue as Faora, Christopher Meloni as Colonel Hardy and Harry Lennix as General Swanwick.
