Action fans both rejoice and take heed. It appears that Sylvester Stallone has cast Wesley Snipes in the next Expendables movie, and that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may not be able to appear in Fast and Furious 7. So they give and they take.

Collider sat down with Johnson for one of his upcoming movies (likely Pain and Gain), and as Universal has put Fast and Furious 7 on the fast track (and recently hired James Wan as the director), they could be shooting this summer. Johnson is signed up to appear in Hercules, which will be shooting this summer with Brett Ratner at the helm, and so his schedule wouldn’t allow him to appear in a major role.

Universal may be in a rush, but we’re sure they feel that Johnson is a big part of why the franchise has been so successful of late, so it’s likely they will push shooting to get him back, and perhaps go for a later summer release. But also, as his character is a law man, it’s possible his character will have served his use by the end of this latest movie. X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire ran into a similar problem with Jennifer Lawrence‘s packed schedule, and theyworked around each other so both could have her. That seems a likely outcome here.

And recently Stallone tweeted that he was curious what people thought of Mel Gibson helming The Expendables 3, and then added this:

Of course that could just mean that Stallone is happy that Snipes is out of jail, but it seems to be in connection with him writing the script for Expendables 3, and Snipes would be a perfect fit. And though Snipes has had tax problems and was typed as difficult after his experiences on the Blade franchise, he could also be a great actor, and perhaps this is the comeback he needs. Also, we’d be happy to see a Demolition Man reunion.

Seriously, what was the deal with the three shells?
