Hey, remember the red-band trailer for Kick-Ass 2? Well, here’s the exact same clip, but edited to accommodate the more all-ages green-band crowd. Which means you get all the same things as before—Jim Carrey scene-stealing as the bizarre Colonel Stars and Stripes, some juvenile humor, and a lot of fairly cheap special effects—without much of anything new to go by, or get excited for.
But, just in case you have an oddly accommodating boss at work who will allow you to steal company time by watching movie trailers as long as they aren’t NSFW, well, have we ever got a trailer for you. It’s a bunch of teenagers whipping each other with sticks and Jim Carrey’s dog biting people’s groins. Check it out.
Kick-Ass 2 finds a number of other self-made heroes joining up to fight evil, thanks to the inspiring acts Kick-Ass committed in the first film. Led by Colonel Stars and Stripes, they join Kick-Ass on his street-level battle against evil. However, things get wacky when Red Mist (now known as The Mother F***er) returns for veangeance, and brings an army to help take down Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, Colonel Stars and Stripes, and everybody else we can’t remember to name.
Directed by Jeff Wadlow, and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chloe Grace Moretz, Kick-Ass 2 is set for an August 16 release date.
