The marketing team behind J.J. Abrams‘ second Star Trek movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, has had a busy morning today. Not only did they release eight high-quality photos, but they’ve also revealed an international poster featuring a fierce-looking Benedict Cumberbatch. He sort of looks like The Governor from The Walking Dead, minus the eye patch and and wearing much-nicer attire. Seriously check out that leather.
Though we’ve seen the images online and/or in magazines before, Paramount upgraded the quality of each. The images are action-packed. Kirk, Spock, Sulu and everyone else look like they’re having the worst day of their lives. There’s also a lot of staring into space.
The poster shows Cumberbatch in the middle of a destroyed London. The caption on said poster reads “Earth will fall,” which just feeds the idea of John Harrison as a disastrous force.
Star Trek Into Darkness opens in IMAX 3D theaters on May 15 before hitting 3D and 2D theaters on May 17; the film also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Here are the stills and poster:
