While most of you are thinking about how potentially awesome Iron Man 3 is going to be when it comes out in a couple of weeks, we’re looking farther into the Marvel movie universe future. Today it was announced that principal photography began on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Not only that but Marvel decided to spoil us fans with an official first poster. Oh Marvel, we love you so.

First we should run through the Captain America sequel facts. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due to be unleashed into movie theaters everywhere on April 4, 2014. Now they just began filming today, so the last thing anybody expected was an official first photo that many people, including myself, would love to use as a wallpaper for their computer. But there he is, Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans) standing proud facing the S.H.I.E.L.D. symbol. What makes us even more intrigued about the sequel is the plot synopsis.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.”

Okay, this reporter here was secretly hoping that they would stay back in Captain America’s previous timeline and we’d see more adventures between him, Bucky and the rest of The Invanders group. Still it’s nice to hear that we’ll be seeing a considerable amount of Black Widow in the sequel. Maybe they’ll go into more detail about Natasha’s past. And since we’re talking about S.H.I.E.L.D. maybe we’ll get a little bit more Maria Hill screen time. She was the one character out of The Avengers that barely got any screen time and she’s one of the most valuable workers in that group.

Are you excited for Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
