After years of rumors, innuendos, hints, news leaks, official confirmation, Twitter peeks, and endless fan speculation, the impossible is finally happening—the long awaited fourth season of Arrested Development is set to premiere on Netflix. How do we know? Because it even has a premiere date. There’s no turning back now.
Mark your calendars, kids—on May 26, 2013, all 15 episodes of the new season of Arrested Development will premiere simultaneously on the streaming service. That’s right—you can space them out and watch them a week at a time at your leisure, or you can indulge in the TV on DVD/streaming TV thing and cram them all in on one day and then wonder why you never get anything accomplished. Either way.
Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos had this to say:
”‘Arrested Development’ is now widely viewed as one of the top TV comedies of all time and Mitch Hurwitz is bringing it to Netflix in a brand new way, crafted for the on-demand generation that has come to discover the show in the years since it last appeared on TV…The highly anticipated return of this show is sure to make history all over again.”
Which was followed by a typically funny comment from Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz:
“Ted said that? Wow. Well don’t print this obviously, but he’s going to be immensely disappointed. In truth we are doing something very ambitious that can only be done with Netflix as partners and on their platform. Finally my simple wish for the show is coming true: that it be broadcast every second around the clock to every television, computer or mobile device in existence.”
Will you be streaming on May 26?
