Returning to the well that gave the world the inexplicable hit Grown Ups, Adam Sandler has returned to bring us Grown Ups 2: The Exact Same Formula As The First Movie, But This Time in the Country. In it, we see such hilarity as a CGI elk rearing up and peeing on Adam Sandler’s face, middle-aged men skinny dipping with frat boys, and a couple of middle-aged chubby guys married to some of the most beautiful women in the world. Cinema!
As I said, the cleverly-titled Grown Ups 2 finds Sandler and his movie-wife Salma Hayek moving away from Los Angeles and back to their rural hometown. Their all sorts of hilarity occurs, as Sandler mines the fish out of water territory that’s never, ever been done before. And he brings along his friends Chris Rock, David Spade, Kevin James, Mario Bello, Nick Swardson, and Maya Rudolph. Oh, and Taylor Lautner shows up to grasp the last few shreds of career that are left. Watch:
And if that wasn’t enough plot for you, the PR sheet lays it out thusly: “Lenny (Adam Sandler) has relocated his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up. This time around, the grown ups are the ones learning lessons from their kids on a day notoriously full of surprises: the last day of school.” Somewhere, faintly, you can hear the South Park “durpa-durpa-durp” voice in the background.
