James Franco, Michael Cera, Seth Rogan, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride are all actors who have starred in some combination with each other in a series of comic films (usually involving Judd Apatow or weed) about slackers and man-children who eventually redeem themselves and grow up. Now, though, they reunited for a rather unique premise—they each play fictionalized versions of their celebrity selves as they face down the apocalypse while having a party at Franco’s house.
Both written and directed by Rogan and writing partner Evan Goldberg, This is the End finds a veritable ton of celebrities partying at James Franco’s house when the apocalypse begins and decimates Los Angeles. Chaos ensues as the celebs face dwindling food and drug resources, and then Emma Watson shows up and attacks them with an axe. Dig the trailer from Machinima (via /Film):
It’s a fairly unique meta-premise and excuse to get these actors all under the same roof, instead of yet another story about a man-child who falls for a woman totally out of his league and then learns how to be a grown up blah blah blah just rewatch Knocked Up or something.
This is the End is set for a June 12 release.
