Last week, we reported that Blue Mountain State star Alan Ritchson had been cast to star (i.e., be motion-captured to portray a CGI character) as Raphael in Michael Bay’s upcoming Ninja Turtles, a reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Now, we have the rest of the turtles—that’s right, Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo have all been cast.
Pete Ploszek will portray Leonardo, Jeremy Howard will play Donatello, and Noah Fisher will be the film’s Michelangelo. It’s interesting to note all four actors are relative “unknowns” to be selected to anchor a potential new franchise, but since the real stars of the show will be the CGI turtles (who are actually aliens in the film, not turtles—don’t ask) and Megan Fox as the female lead (yet to be confirmed as April O’Neil), it’s likely the studio decided to save a few bucks by not casting big names as the half-shelled heroes.
And while this casting is big news, there’s still one more major piece yet to be announced—as Cinema Blend notes, a casting announcement for Shredder is soon to be released. As you’ll recall, Shredder is the metal-loving Big Bad of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise, and there’s potential here for a big star to step in as the blade-covered villain.
Ninja Turtles is set for a June 6, 2014 release date.
