Whether you like it or not, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is being made. The first turtle has been selected, and actor Alan Ritchson will be playing that reptile. Yes, we know not that many people know who he is so let us explain.

Alan Ritchson doesn’t sound like a familiar name simply because he hasn’t appeared in too many films at this point. He’s spent most of his career pretty much playing a football guy in stuff like Blue Mountain State and Fired Up. He’s set to star in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire as the character Gloss later on this year, so we’ll be really acquainted with him soon enough. And if his face looks familiar to some of you comic book TV watching folk, that’s because he played Aquaman in Smallville. Since he’s used to playing such active characters, Raphael will be right up his alley, especially since the role requires for him to be in a motion capture suit. For those of you who didn’t know, we won’t see the actors walking around in big old suits this time around. They’re going to do motion capture which will result in us seeing CG ninja turtles walking around all over the screen.

There’s been a lot of controversy, more so angry fans, buzzing about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle live-action remake simply because of who’s been involved with it so far. Michael Bay is serving as producer, as naturally as a result an actor or two from his Transformers past made their way into the fold. Not everybody is happy over the fact that Megan Fox is playing April O’Neill, but it’s happening. Jonathan Liebesman, who directed Battle Los Angeles and Wrath of the Titans, will be handling the picture.
