Riddick

When watching a new Riddick film, you know what you’re going to get—moderately budgeted films set in a distant future in which a big bald anti-hero with glowing eyes growls at things in burly monotone so difficult to suss out it reaches Schwarzeneggerian levels of unintelligibility.  But hey, the franchise is a passion project of Vin Diesel’s, so here were are again, with the teaser to the third live action film in the series.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Pitch Black was released in 2000, and The Chronicles of Riddick in 2004.  Neither film was a runaway success, but hey, Diesel seems to be having fun with these things.  So now, nine years after the last film, is the simply-titled Riddick.  There’s not much to go off in this new teaser—less than a minute of some growly dialogue and CGI creatures, and some glowing eyes.  If you’re a fan, it will probably do something for you.

In Riddick, the titular badass has been left for dead on a planet full of alien predators.  His only way off?  Release his location to an army of bounty hunters looking kill, and hope that he can somehow escape with one of their ships.

Directed by David Twohy and co-starring Karl Urban and Katee Sackhoff, Riddick is set for a September 6 release date.
