Fans of the Kick-Ass comics and film, you may now rejoice, for the Kick-Ass 2 red-band trailer is now upon you. Sure, the special effects don’t look that hot, and the adult humor paradoxically gets a bit juvenile, but hey—you get the return of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass, Chloe Grace Moretz as Hit Girl, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse becomes The Mother F***er, while Jim Carrey offers a bizarre turn as Colonel Stars and Stripes.
And while he’s only in the trailer for a few moments, it’s definitely Carrey who steals the show here, borderline unrecognizable as an unhinged and patriotic vigilante who leads the group Justice Forever. Elsewhere, you have Mintz-Plasse forming a union of super-villains to wage a war of vengeance against Kick-Ass over the events of the first film. Check it out:
Directed by Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down), Kick-Ass 2 is set for an a late summer release date of August 16th. We’ll offer up a more work-appropriate green-band trailer once it’s available (or you could quit being a baby and just watch this thing with the volume low, your boss probably won’t mind).
