When watching the most recent trailer for Iron Man 3, sharper eyes than ours apparently caught the fact that Tony Stark’s “Hulkbuster” armor was seen crashing through a wall—“Hulkbuster” armor being the gear that Stark designed to control and/or fight the incredible Hulk with should the big green guy turn nasty. So, of course, this being the internet, comic books readers went bananas suggesting that if Iron Man 3 was going to feature the “Hulkbuster” armor, it stood to reason that Iron Man 3 would feature the Hulk as well. Not so, says Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo, however.
Following the Hulk rumors than ran rampant this week after the release of the Iron Man 3 trailer, Ruffalo quickly took to Twitter to clear things up and break a few hearts of fans of the crabby green giant.
“A lot of folks have been asking about the Next Hulk. The next time you see my Hulk it will be in the Avengers2. No plans for stand alone.”
So, yeah, that’s drag, but not entirely a surprise, as it’s become increasingly clear that Hulk just doesn’t work well in his own films, and does better within a group context.
But… just to keep geek hope burning a little while long, Ruffalo added this bit:
“I am not giving up on another stand alone HULK. But it’s not in the works right now. One never knows what the future will bring.”
So what exactly does it all mean, Hulk fans? Simply this: Maybe Hulk will get his own series of films, and maybe he won’t, but either way you won’t find out until The Avengers 2 hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
What do you think of the Hulk news?
