Easily one of the most controversial selection of nominees for this year’s Academy Awards has to be in the Best Director category. A number of fantastic directors were left out of the running, but those that remained were all well qualified to be in the group. The selection process may have been difficult for the Academy voters, but tonight they revealed which director stood out the most for them.
This year’s Best Director winner is Ang Lee for Life of Pi. This is his second Oscar win believe it or not, with his first being for Brokeback Mountain. The fact that he now has two Oscars under his belt is a great achievement in itself. Read a little bit of his super sweet acceptance speech below:
“Thank you, movie God. I really need to share this with all 3000, all the people who worked with me on Life of Pi… Every one of you in this cast… you’re the golden statue in my heart. I cannot make this movie without the help of Taiwan. I want to thank everybody there who helped us… It’s great to have your support.”
